Standard Five
The Standard V in the competencies which will enable the Standard V pupil to: communicate, read, use mathematical concepts and principles, use scientific, technological and technical skills to real-life
situations
Objectives of primary education for Standard V is to enable the Standard V pupil to do the
following:
develop skills in reading, writing, arithmetic and communication;
appreciate, and use the Swahili language;
observe and practice the principles of the rule of law;
appreciate the culture of Tanzania and those of other countries;
develop critical thinking, creativity and problem solving skills;
recognise the importance of ethics, integrity and accountability as foundation of a good citizen;
participate in games, sports and arts activities;
develop his or her talents and abilities;
appreciate and value work;
identify, appreciate and make use of science and technology; and
develop readiness for continueing education and lifelong learning
